State lawmakers are trying to put an end to prescription drug price gouging.
A bill is currently pending in the Illinois State Senate that would ban prescription drug manufacturers from using price-gouging practices.
Officials said drug prices can increase significantly overnight, leaving people who need drugs, helpless.
“We need to find a better way so that seniors, low-income Americans don’t have to make decisions between food and prescription drugs, between electric and getting the necessary drugs to live. We want to make sure you have a wholesome life.”
A federal study evaluating almost 1,500 generic drugs found more than 300 individuals saw prices double between 2010 and 2015.
